In a search for details of her family's past, Nande visits Jamaica for photos and stories to create an ancestral map across the Atlantic.
Synopsis
From archival film, VHS video, and family scrapbooks, I use personal and found visuals to stitch an ancestral timeline together. A documentary film set between computer screens, my Brooklyn apartment, childhood home in Florida, and grandparents’ home in Kingston, Jamaica. I collect oral stories and dusty photographs from my family, and materials from existing archives to create an imagined 4D collage of what my family looked like across generations in Jamaica.
